For consumers looking to do larger-scale energy efficiency projects, the Greener Homes Loan is currently one of the most popular, with programs like the Greener Homes Loan, which offers homeowners the opportunity to borrow between $5,000 and $40,000 interest-free with a 10-year repayment plan. With the rising popularity of solar panels, it’s an ideal program to help offset the upfront installation costs. |
For consumers looking to do home energy efficiency retrofits, NR Canada has the Greener Homes Grant, which can provide between $125 and $5,000 to put towards a portion of the costs of upgrading their homes, and $600 towards the total cost of EnerGuide evaluations before and after the retrofits. To qualify for the grant, any purchases need to be from a Canadian distributor and from the Natural Resources Canada website’s list of eligible products. The Greener Homes Grant website also shows the grant amounts for different types of retrofits. The Greener Homes Grant can be used in conjunction with the Greener Homes Loan, and consumers have until April 2027 to complete the retrofits. |
